Our client Mr. Hitesh Lalwani, with business in Dubai & Africa (a young couple with 3 children) bought this new place, a 5BHK apartment admeasuring a carpet area of 2030 sq.ft. The client himself is very influenced by Dubai & Dubai style interiors with a lot of glitter & opulence, wanting something on the same lines.
For us, the challenge was to capture the essence of this “Dubai-style”, opulence & tone it down to an extend that it becomes practical & workable both in designing & maintenance, possible within our available resources like-Time & budget. Hence, it was an uphill task to capture the essence & fine-tune it with all the other aspects of practicality, workability & economically possible.
Use of a “Geometric pattern” in the design becomes the overall theme. We have used the patterns very subtly in floor, ceiling & wall with an overall white colour as the connecting factor for all zones of the house. The passage connects all the semi-public zones with a teak wood louvered (vertical) partition giving the much needed privacy to the dining zone. This long passage also helps to accentuate the space, making it feel much larger & spacious then it actually is.
As per the requirements of the house, we converted this 5BHK to 4BHK, giving a huge room to the daughters. Also, the existing bathroom eats up the walk-in-closet as they really wanted a large bathroom to really enjoy the space. The walk-in-closet becomes a wardrobe in the master bed-room. The dining table too has a bench on one side as the young kids can really enjoy sitting in an informal fashion compared to a dining chair.
