A Bungalow at Shantivan

This house is located in Shantivan, a one of a kind designed society done by Ar. Anand Shirgaokar almost 30 years ago, that comprises of only 11 bungalows which consumes 50 % area of the entire plot area and rest 50% is a Mango orchard, common between 11 bungalows.

Mr. Dushyant Patel’s bungalow admeasures 12022 sqft. with the house footprint consuming 2895 sqft. So the available landscape area was too concise. With opening mostly on the North side; this gets very little sunlight and with existing Mango trees further cutting it down to bare minimum.

The Landscape design is thus oriented with more careful selection and use of shade loving species, specifically locating them as per sunlight availability throughout the day.

The North side area has a Gazebo which visually connects with the Dining Side verandah. Further enhancing this visual connectivity; indigo Lines as an inlay pattern in lawn to risers of steps further fuses with the vertical yellow Kota Stone screen wall.

Shade loving species were planted along this connection with use of colourful gravel (a hard- landscape element) to compliment it and better physical usage of the space.

The Gazebo gets a branching tree fabrication pattern done from M.S., work with use of design ceramic tiles on top. A small water feature is also added in the corner besides the Gazebo.
